Welcome!
Rockford Maker Center (RMC) is an Illinois nonprofit whose mission is to provide access to equipment and training that allows members to build their skills and craft their future.
More than that, we are a community whose focus is growth, innovation, and empowerment.
The Maker Center is presently formed around four functional areas:
- Welding
- Electrical/Electronics
- Woodworking
- Metalworking
We are in the process of making this Center the complete resource that we believe the community deserves. As we get started and prepare the way for open membership, we are focusing on holding structured classes and tours of the space. Once the functional areas have all been activated by classes, we will begin to make open memberships available which will grant individuals who have completed area-specific safe operator training access to use equipment in an unstructured manner.
Our goal is to develop a space that:
- Allows members to come from a variety of backgrounds to pursue a hobby,
- Create art,
- Bring their latest inventions to reality,
- Learn or maintain an employable skill, or to experiment with a new process.
This is an exciting time for RMC, and we are actively looking for community partners and corporate sponsors to join us in providing a creative outlet that improves and aligns workforce skills while also enriching the area’s entrepreneurial sector.
Tours and expanded classes coming Q1 2025!
